SCORE Ohio representatives recently addressed staff members of the Columbus Metropolitan Library about CQEs and the need to educate the public about them. The library invited Megan O’Dell, a staff attorney at the Ohio Poverty Law Center, and John Hambrick, director of business solutions for the Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio, to educate librarians and other employees about SCORE Ohio’s mission in an effort to better serve patrons. Their presentation was the first of an ongoing series designed to better prepare library staffers to answer social service-related questions.

So, what exactly is a CQE? And what benefit does it give to employers who hire someone with a CQE? These are two questions SCORE Ohio has set out to educate employers in the Central Ohio area about, with this inaugural event titled, “Your Next Great Employee Has a CQE…What’s a CQE?” This informational session, targeted to employers and public stake holders, included stories from current CQE holders as well as two expert panels.
